A Peapack and Gladstone Summer, Mapped by the People Who Actually Live Here

A Peapack and Gladstone Summer, Mapped by the People Who Actually Live Here

Peapack and Gladstone runs on two engines most weekends, and residents who only tap one are quietly missing half of what the borough offers between June and October. The first engine is the estates. The second is the civic core along School Street and Main. They operate on different clocks and reward different plans, and once you see the borough this way, the summer calendar starts writing itself.

This is a resident's read on where to spend a Saturday afternoon, where to book a Sunday dinner, and which dates on the 2026 calendar are worth blocking off now.

The estates set the tempo

Two working properties shape most of what happens outside downtown. Both are open to residents, not just guests, and both are running full summer programming.

Pendry Natirar occupies 400 Natirar Drive.

That is the reservation-driven side of summer. Pendry’s current calendar includes youth cooking camps in July and August, with three-day sessions covering kitchen safety, techniques, and varied menus. The camps are open to resort guests, Natirar Club members, and the local community.

The estate also gives adults several reasons to plan ahead. Liberty & Libations Boozy Tea runs from July 10 through September 7, pairing tea and tea-inspired cocktails with savory selections and seasonal pastries. The current listing prices the experience at $100. On July 31, the grand lawn hosts a Clam Bake from 6 to 9 p.m., with lobster, clams, grilled shrimp, seasonal accompaniments, desserts, drinks, and live music.

These are calendar commitments rather than places to drift into without checking first. That distinction is useful. Pendry works best when you choose a date, confirm access, and reserve before building the rest of the day around it.

The second large summer calendar belongs to Gill St. Bernard’s School in Gladstone. Its 2026 summer programming runs from June 22 through August 14 and includes traditional camp, fine arts, academic, enrichment, and sports options. For households coordinating workweeks and summer activities, it serves a different purpose from Pendry, but it follows the same clock: review the schedule, register, and plan ahead.

Separate the resort from the public park

Natirar also has a more spontaneous side. The county park entrance is at 2 Main Street, separate from the resort address, and its public trails do not require a dining reservation.

The 411-acre property spans Peapack and Gladstone, Far Hills, and Bedminster, with 247 acres in Peapack and Gladstone. The public trail system includes the 1.3-mile Great Meadow Trail and the 1-mile Upper Field Trail. Both pass through a mix of river corridor, woodland, fields, and meadows.

Access boundaries matter here. The official Natirar map identifies public walking trails, parking, fishing areas, and sections with no public access. Check that map before setting out rather than assuming every part of the broader property is open.

Somerset County advises that general-use parks are ordinarily open from one-half hour before sunrise until one-half hour after sunset unless posted signs say otherwise. Current conditions and on-site signs should always take priority.

The civic core leaves room for an unplanned morning

This is where the borough’s second engine feels different. School Street and Main Street reward a lighter plan. Coffee can lead to a walk. A park stop can become a picnic. A library program can fill the part of the afternoon when the heat changes everyone’s mind.

Sunday starts especially early in Gladstone. The Gladpack Run Club, organized by Heated and Holotropic Fitness, meets every Sunday at 7 a.m. at 10 Lackawanna Avenue. Warm-ups begin at 7:20, and the run starts at 7:30. Distances are scaled for different ability levels, and each run depends on the weather.

Afterward, Heated provides a natural next stop. The Gladstone sourdough café serves a breakfast- and lunch-focused menu with freshly baked sourdough, seasonal dips, small plates, and coffee from Valor. Gluten-free and plant-based choices are also available.

On the Peapack side, CocoLuxe Fine Pastries at 161 Main Street opens at 6:30 a.m. on weekdays and 7 a.m. on weekends. Its published closing times are 4 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 3 p.m. Sunday. Think of it as a practical first stop before Liberty Park rather than a separate outing that needs its own itinerary.

Liberty Park has a new summer use in 2026

Liberty Park remains the easiest low-planning stop in the center of town. Walking paths circle a pond, with picnic tables, benches, a gazebo, swans, and ducks adding to the familiar scene.

This year brings a meaningful change. Borough Ordinance 1160-2026, adopted March 31, now permits fishing in Liberty Park subject to applicable federal, state, and local rules.

Anglers age 16 or older need a valid New Jersey fishing license, along with a trout stamp when required. Fishing is prohibited during applicable state closures and stocking restrictions. A quick visit to the pond can now include a fishing rod, but it should also include a check of current regulations.

Two smaller park choices help residents match the outing to the day:

  • Rockabye Meadow Park sits at Main Street and Old Chester Road along a feeder branch of the Raritan River. Its benches, native plantings, and intimate paths suit a quiet pause or brief walk.
  • Komline Park is reached from Apgar Road off Pottersville Road. It offers walking paths, a gazebo, recreation facilities, regulation tennis courts, and a hitting wall.

The point is not to complete all three parks. It is to know which one fits the time and energy available.

The renovated library changes the hot-afternoon plan

The Peapack and Gladstone branch of the Somerset County Library System reopened on January 5, 2026 after an extensive renovation supported by the Friends of the Peapack & Gladstone Library.

That makes the branch more than a rainy-day fallback this summer. It is now a refreshed civic stop with programming for different ages and schedules.

As of July 11, the July calendar includes:

  • American Icon Buttons on July 13
  • A Memory Café on July 16
  • Reel Conversations on the evening of July 22
  • A stuffed-animal sleepover beginning July 25
  • A friendship-bracelet craft on July 27
  • Recurring Baby Storytime, Toddler Storytime, and playdates

Registration rules and availability can change, so confirm details with the library before leaving home. That small check is especially useful for programs with limited capacity.

Save dinner for the right kind of evening

The borough’s evening choices follow the same two-clock pattern.

Gladstone Tavern at 273 Main Street is the civic-core option. Its outdoor terrace has a stone fireplace and herb garden, giving residents a place for lunch, dinner, or drinks outside. The restaurant also advertises Friday-night live music and music during Sunday brunch. Confirm the performance schedule directly before making music the reason for the visit.

Ninety Acres is the planned estate dinner. The restaurant uses ingredients from the property’s farm and offers indoor and outdoor seating. Published dinner hours are 5 to 10:30 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday, 5 to 11:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and 4 to 10 p.m. Sunday. It is closed Monday and Tuesday. Pendry currently lists $10 valet parking from Wednesday through Sunday.

A useful local rule is simple: choose Gladstone when the evening should remain flexible, and book Natirar when dinner is the main event.

A practical map for choosing the day

If the day calls for Start here Add this if time allows
An active Sunday morning Gladpack Run Club Breakfast or lunch at Heated
Coffee and an easy park stop CocoLuxe Liberty Park
A short quiet break Rockabye Meadow Park A Main Street stop afterward
Tennis or casual recreation Komline Park A picnic or walk
A longer outdoor block Natirar’s public trails Check designated fishing areas on the official map
A cooler indoor afternoon Peapack and Gladstone Library A scheduled July program
A flexible evening Gladstone Tavern Confirm live music before going
A planned summer occasion Ninety Acres or a Pendry event Reserve before arranging the rest of the day

This is the more useful answer for anyone searching for things to do in Peapack and Gladstone this summer. Start with the kind of day you want, then choose the right clock. The estate side rewards reservations. The civic side rewards leaving a little space in the schedule.

What residents are watching next

West Line Brewing Co. is the local opening to monitor, but it should not be placed on a current itinerary yet.

The Peapack and Gladstone Land Use Board approved the brewery application for 217 Main Street on June 18, 2025. Plans called for the approximately 11,448-square-foot former classic-car dealership building to receive minor exterior changes, including removal of a shed and modification of a walkway.

As of July 6, 2026, New Jersey Craft Beer still categorized West Line as a startup that is soon to open, not an operating brewery. Until the business confirms an opening date, treat it as something to watch rather than somewhere to meet.

The same standard applies to the broader summer calendar. We could not confirm a borough-run concert series or a Peapack and Gladstone farmers market for July or August 2026. A shorter, verified map is more helpful than a longer list built on assumptions.

Summer here works best when the day has one anchor and room around it. Reserve the Clam Bake. Register for the library program. Check the trail map. Then leave enough time for the park, café, or terrace that did not need to be scheduled at all.
